How to prevent excessive discharge from damaging yuasa battery?
Overdischarge of batteries will cause lead sulfate in batteries to form large and uneven crystal blocks, which will cause plate warping and increase internal resistance, and hinder the charging process of batteries. How to prevent excessive discharge from damaging storage battery?
Most UPS power supply has the highest efficiency when the load is 50%-100%. When the load is less than 50%, its efficiency decreases sharply. Therefore, when the equipment is overloaded and light-loaded, it is not economical. Some users always think that the less the load, the higher the reliability of the machine and the lower the failure rate. In fact, this concept is not comprehensive, because the less the load, although it can reduce the probability of damage to the last stage power transistor, it is extremely harmful to the battery. If UPS batteries do not have deep discharge protection system after power outage, it may cause excessive discharge of batteries, resulting in serious shortening of battery life.
1. Long time low current discharge.
As we all know, the capacity of UPS power supply is closely related to the discharge current. The smaller the discharge current is, the more the actual discharge capacity will be. Generally speaking, the discharge capacity of storage battery must be controlled within 80% of the rated capacity. That is to say, when the battery discharges 80% of its rated capacity, it is not allowed to continue discharging. If the discharge continues, it will cause deep discharge of the battery. If remedial measures are not taken in time, the service life of the battery may be terminated.
2. Long-term frequent discharge.
In some remote areas, frequent power outages due to electricity shortage in the city may cause frequent discharges of batteries. If the battery does not have enough time to charge after discharge, and discharges immediately after the second time, such a number of times may cause deep discharges of the battery.
UPS has the lowest voltage protection of storage battery, but the relationship between the terminal voltage and discharge current of Tangshao storage battery is very close. The lower the discharge current, the higher the terminal voltage, and the more the actual capacity released when the lowest protection value is reached. Therefore, the lightweight UPS power supply should try to avoid the phenomenon of shutdown when discharge reaches the lowest protection value. For long delay UPS, the lower limit voltage protection value should be increased appropriately.
Batteries discharged with load to low-voltage state must be recharged within 72 hours after discharge to avoid battery damage.
When UPS power supply is idle, the connected battery should be disconnected. Otherwise, it will lead to self-discharge and damage of the connected battery in a period of time. Therefore, when UPS uninterrupted power supply is not used, the connecting line of the battery group should be disconnected.
Battery manufacturers recommend that UPS batteries should be charged immediately after discharge, and recharging within 72 hours after discharge will completely restore the capacity and life of the battery.
Tangshao batteries are not allowed to discharge after each cell voltage is less than 1V, for 12V batteries is 6V;
UPS usually designs an alarm. When the voltage drops to close to the discharge termination voltage (when the single section 12V voltage approaches 10.8V), an alarm will be issued. At this time, the electrical appliances should be switched off immediately and the UPS should be switched off.
Batteries do not require high heat and cold. As long as they are at room temperature, excessive temperature will easily lead to the rise of battery temperature and damage battery performance. Low temperature will easily reduce the activity. High temperature will lead to poor battery acceptance, more charges and discharges, and indirectly shorten the service life of batteries.
